Sylvie Evelyn “Grammy” Specters April 2, 1944 – August 9, 2016

Sylvie Evelyn Specters of Oak Hills, California, died on August 9, 2016, at the age of 72, but her trademark stubbornness and fearless accuracy for the knowing the unknowable will never be forgotten.

Born on April 2, 1944, in Bloomington, California, Sylvie Specters was the only child of Kenneth Alan Parsons and Elodie Anne Parsons. Affectionately known as “Grammy Specters” to friends, fans, and her crew members, Sylvie was a ghost hunter by trade, an avid reader, and an animal lover. She was also a founding member of the paranormal reality show Entity Entanglers. Her beloved husband, Alton Specters, preceded her in death. Sylvie maintained that he never communicated with her from beyond the grave.

Considered one of the foremost authorities on the supernatural and renowned “ghost intercessor,” Grammy Specters consulted on police investigations linked to satanic rituals and eerie murders. She and then partner, Dr. Milton Diddle, formed The Southern California Ghost Investigators Society in 1991. The SCGIS researched and documented hauntings throughout The Golden State. Specters and Diddle later established the Entity Entanglers in 2001, airing their first episode in 2002. The show explored and debunked over two hundred reports of paranormal activity.

After parting with Dr. Diddle and the Entity Entanglers in 2008, Sylvie Specters created Spooky Specters in 2012, a new paranormal investigation show, after her namesake. Grammy often mentored young investigators in the field. She recruited Mazzy Davis and James Griffin for her show. The Spooky Specters team investigated and filmed hundreds of hauntings across America.

Among her greatest achievements, Grammy is credited for exercising troublesome entities and helping families continue their ghost-free lives.

Grammy Specters is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Gravelee, her son-in-law, Jacob Levi Gravelee, and her grandchild, Verlyn Gravelee.
